Being
a member of a church school.
The
children and Headteacher at Kington St Michael CE School
decided together what it meant to be a church school. We
looked at what it meant to be a Christian and a member of
the Church of England and took from it what we thought was
relevant to our school.
1. Forgiveness
is an important part of the Christian faith so we give everyone
a second chance. In Matthew verse 21, Jesus says that we
must forgive people 70 x 7 times, which means a great many
chances.
2. Jesus
died on the cross for everyone. We know this because the
Kings and the shepherds visited Him at His birth and he
told the thief on the cross next to Him that he would be
with Him that day in paradise. At our school everyone is
special. We show this by being kind to everyone, showing
friendship and helping each other. The feeling of special
is promoted through us of stickers and certificates by staff
and children.
3. Service
to others is another important part of the Christian faith
so that we believe that we should serve others whenever
possible. Jesus helped others, whoever they we, whenever
He could. We help each other to be good. The school; encourages
the service to others through Operation Christmas Child,
child sponsorship, fund raising, supporting the tsunami
and Poppy appeal and running clubs for others in school.
4. If
we are part of the Church of England we include the church
and people who work with the church in our school family.
We visit the church at least six times a year and involve
people who work with the church in our worship. We also
use the church building as an important part of our local
history studies.
