Letter from Minister

Nick Gibb MP – the Minister of State for Schools has written to the school to congratulate us on our excellent academic results in last summer’s National Curriculum tests. Our pupils achieved 100% for Level 4+ achievement and 100% of our pupils making the expected progress in both English and Mathematics. He closes his letter with:-

“I would like to congratulate your staff, governors and pupils for their hard work and success in continuing the drive towards the highest standards of educational achievement”.

Welcome to our School

The children, staff and governors welcome you to the Kington St Michael CE Primary School website. Kington St Michael School is a voluntary controlled Church of England primary school for children who are Foundation Stage 2 (Reception), Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 – ages 4 to 11.

Our school is located on the outskirts of the market town of Chippenham, Wiltshire. There are 112 children on roll, drawn from the parish of Kington St Michael and the housing development of Cepen Park North in Chippenham. Children living in other parts of Chippenham and other villages in the surrounding areas also attend the school.

Kington St Michael Church of England Primary is a good school. It has a number ofoutstanding features and has made steady improvement since the previous inspection, sustaining the strengths reported then. The outcomes for pupils areoutstanding, largely because of the high quality of their personal, spiritual, moral, social and cultural development. Behaviour is excellent and attendance levels are high. The pupils thoroughly enjoy their time at school.” (Ofsted Inspection report July 2011).

We aim to provide a stimulating environment where your child can develop at his, or her, own pace and where each child is valued as an individual. Problems can be shared and successes and endeavours celebrated, enabling each child to reachtheir full potential. There is a caring atmosphere where children can develop self-discipline and co-operation. All of our staff members are well qualified, experienced, skilled and very hard working.

We appreciate that the best education of your child happens as a result of the partnership between parents and teachers. We have an active parents’ association (Friends) at the school, with many parents volunteering as parent helpers in the classrooms.

“The school is a warm, welcoming, friendly learning environment for our children to be in. All staff support and encourage the children to develop their confidence, independence and much more” (parent feedback to Ofsted inspector).

If you would like to come and visit us and look around our school, please telephone for an appointment.

Miss T Cornelius, Headteacher
